About Me

Hi, I’m Sara from LearningForaPurpose.com

I am a wife to a wonderful man and a sister who is passionate about serving the special needs community.

Currently I am working as a pediatric occupational therapist and I have a younger brother who is a teenager transitioning into adulthood. I was 13 when he was born, so I was able to grow up and understand some of the struggles he has had as a child. I have been able to grow up with him and be one of his best friends.

My brother was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at age 6 and that is when I feel that my life's purpose started to take route. I was able to observe him working with my mother who has a background as a special education teacher and going to occupational therapy and speech therapy. During that time I was entering the college world, and I knew I wanted to be a part of a profession where I was helping people. That is when I was first introduced to occupational therapy and I grew to love the profession because of the nature in ways we could help others. I loved being able to help children and adults meet their goals for activities that can be so meaningful. Every day life skills that can have such a huge impact on our lives. You may be asking yourself why are you starting this blogging journey?

Why Blogging?

Well, with my brother going to be 15 years old this summer we are starting that transition into adulthood and that can be a very scary time for families. Not only as a parent, but also for a sibling. I worry a lot about what the future holds for my brother and that is exactly why I am starting this journey of learning for a purpose. I grew up loving school and the process of learning new things. I am taking on this challenge of learning the online world of blogging and being able to create a profitable for purpose online business. My goal with this is to have an option for my brother if he chooses to join me as a way for him to have a profitable career if he wants to in the future. He can join me or I can have the ability to help him create his own online business as well. He is very good with computers and as a family we could see this as a viable option for him in the future.

My family means the world to me and I will do everything in my power to help everyone on this transition into adulthood. I want to challenge myself to be thinking outside of the box for different job opportunities then the regular 9-5 job routine that we are all so used to. I want to keep dreaming big and reaching for the stars to be able to reach as many other families and siblings to help them reach their dreams as well.

As a family with a special needs child your time is limited, you have a thousand things pulling you in various directions. I hope that the advice you find at Learning For a Purpose can bring positive light to this community and challenge you to think outside the box to help the ones we love. I hope I can inspire others to join me in starting your own blog in order to make money and potentially help your adult child or sibling possibly have a way to make money online as well.
